Hawaiian Heros
The Debate
The Hawaiian Heros Debate was the second to last step in our Hawaiian Heros unit, where we were paired up in groups of two to debate on which of our heros was better. The Goal of the assignment was to dig up dirt on eachothers hero, find information to support yours, and have the majority rule vote on whose was better. I wanted to use this as one of my work samples because it was a challenges assignment for everyone, including finding the courage to speak up, researching reliable information, and being able to debate while staying organized and prepared.
The Hawaiian Heros debate strongly relates to Informational skills and communication skills. As stated before, this project relies on finding strong information and sources that you know you can trust; if you found information that wasn't true and used that as a source in your debate, it makes it easy for your opponent to point out your false accusation and use it against you.
Communication skills is also a very important aspect in this assignment for speaking clearly to a intended audience who will be criticizing you on your presentation, so if you aren't good with being in front of a big audience, or bad when reading out loud, that could give ur competitor the upper hand. After Finishing up the debate, I realized that I did a good job taking the time to research not only about my opponents hero, but finding good information about mine also gave me a boost. Overall I am not a good in front of an audience, but I feel I have improved some since last semester.
